Mexa specializes in sourcing spirits from the South to the North of Mexico which have a long history and tradition.  Our focus is on authentic distillates that have been passed down through generations.

We are passionate about preserving the tradition of distillation in Mexico as well as the local ecosystems, collaborating with each producer to strengthen the communities in which they are made.  As the popularity of Mexican distillates grows, we want to ensure the producers and local farmers are also benefiting from the success.

It is important to us that our products are made locally and sustainably in Mexico.  We are involved in every step, from vetting partners to produce spirits that have a proven, long history of their craft, as well as executing parts of the process in house.

At Mexa, we take pride in working closely with families who have perfected the art of distillation for generations in different regions of Mexico. Our commitment to tradition and quality drives us to seek out the most respected traditional distilleries in every corner of the country.

Each bottle of Mexa is the result of careful selection of the highest quality ingredients and a craft production process, carried out with passion and expertise and passed down through generations.

From the majestic highlands of Jalisco to the lush jungles of Chiapas and the sierras of Oaxaca, we collaborate with families who share our dedication to preserving the traditions and unique flavors of each region.

By choosing Mexa, you are not only enjoying an exceptional distilled spirit, but also supporting these families and communities that are guardians of an invaluable legacy. Join us on this journey of flavors and traditions, where every sip is a celebration of the rich diversity and unyielding spirit of Mexico.

Milestones

2005

The Beginning

Arturo started working with his friends in college to develop  a “Spring Break” Tequila with good quality and price.
This signaled the birth of P&L Global Trading Inc.

2009

Zury founded Siglo Cero, the first commercial brand of Pox, the spirit used for centuries by the Tzoztzil Maya people that inhabit the highlands of Chiapas, in Southern Mexico.

2015

Julio sees the need to start importing Mexican spirits that are lesser known in the United States market, leading Mexa to expand its portfolio of imports to the U.S.

2017

Arturo and Julio meet Zury, and the three young entrepreneurs start working together.

They begin the process to import Siglo Cero Pox into the U.S. for the first time.

2020

The concept of Mexa is born.

We traveled from South to North of Mexico to partner with the best producers of each distilate and create a brand that is home to all the traditional Mexican distilates – Casa Mexa.

2023

Mexa becomes a reality.

The first bottles are imported into the U.S.

Sustainability

Our commitment to the environment

All our spirits begin with sustainably farmed agave, sotol, corn, and sugarcane, grown on our producer’s family estates on unspoiled soils and with pure clean water. We harvest our wild agaves and sotoles responsively, in partnership with our producers, ejidatarios and indigenous communities who take the conservation of what nature has given them very seriously, to preserve them for generations to come.

Our tequila from Valles is also certified organic, which ensures that our agave plants grow without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, which is better for the soil, water sources, and local ecosystems.

Glass is one of the few materials that can be recycled indefinitely. Our damajuana bottles are made from raw materials such as silica sand, soda ash, limestone, in addition to recycled glass or cullet, using cutting-edge Oxy-Fuel technology that achieves almost perfect combustion, significantly reducing polluting emissions into the atmosphere. Our corks are made from agglomerated natural corks discarded from wine or champagne.
